FREQUENTLY ASKED

Can I use GL-5 oil in a GL-4 gearbox?

Only if the manufacturer allows it. Some older manual gearboxes with brass synchronisers specify GL-4 because stronger GL-5 additives can affect yellow metals.

How often should gear oil be changed?

Gear oil lasts longer than engine oil, but it does wear out. Follow the interval in your service manual, and change it sooner after water crossings or heavy towing.

Where is EP-90 / EP-140 used?

Use EP-90 / EP-140 in gearboxes, differentials and final drives where the manufacturer specifies this grade and API level.

Can I mix this with other oils?

Mixing is not recommended. If you must top up, use an oil of the same grade (EP-90 / EP-140) and specification, and switch fully to MAXX-LUBE at your next change.
